This orphan vintage real post card is of a young man posed in a simple chair. Dressed in a business type suit.
Back of post card has a paper taped on it that has the name John Arvid Someli Indo
born 03 -25 -1885 died 09 -19 -1924. Married Hulda Jussila on 09 - 29 - 1922, buried at Park Hill on 09 - 25 -1924 Div G Row 24 Grave 23. There is a Park Hill Cemetery in Duluth Minnesota.
Post card is from the 1901 to 1907 era so young man was in his 20 and I think it was taken here in the United States.
I find John living as a boarder in the 1920 census in Duluth. He was listed as a laborer working in the woods, is widowed and immigrated from Finland in 1913.
I find a Hulda living in Duluth and listing John as her husband and that he is deceased. She was living in what is now the down town area of Duluth on South 1st ave West.
Sadly from this picture I can see that he was married to Hulda just two years before he died at the age of 39 years old.
I could not find him in any family trees on ancestry at this time. Searched for his wife Hulda, I found that she immigrated from Finland landing in Canada and then coming to the United States in February of 1910. She was born about 1885. No family trees found at this time.

ORPHAN PHOTO # 124 Vintage Real Postcard 1900s Dressed in Best Coat and Hat
This orphan photo is a vintage real post card from the early 1900s. Sadly there is no name to help identify this young woman. She is all dressed up to go out to visit friends in her coat and hat with flower on the side. I wish I could see the dress it appears simple and light weight and may have a design to match the hat. You can see a bit of design on the left side.
Back of post card is not divided and has AZO in stamp area. This post card is from the era of 1901 to 1907.

Selling and Collecting Vintage Game Boards On eBay
Last summer I bought 8 vintage game boards at a garage sale. They have been sitting on my to list pile and this weekend I have been busy getting them ready to sale. These will be added to my eBay auction listings this Sunday night.
I only have the game boards but they are neat in them self. Fun to collect and decorate with.
One of the best ways to display game boards that don't have pieces is to hang them on the wall.
The beautiful colors, pictures, and designs will add something special to your room.

Monday Matrimony Vintage Photo of Bride and Groom Orphan Photo #120
Mondays are a perfect time to share a vintage photo of a bride and groom. This vintage CDV is from the early 1900s. We have no names to identify the bride and groom but back of photo tells us that it was taken at the Chas Tebo Photographers at N Side Broadway in Eau Claire Wisconsin.
I find the posing of the female standing next to the gentleman with her hand on his shoulder. They appear to be a well dressed couple.

Sadly we have no name or place where picture was taken. Sad little orphan photos.

SEPIA SATURDAY 153 November 24 2012 Children on Roller Skates and a Bike
Time for Sepia Saturday and the theme is children. One of my favorite photos to look for are children or women in hats. This is one of my favorite vintage photos. Two adorable children one on a bicycle and the other wearing rollerskates. These adorable kids are wearing matching coats and hats. They are so adorable. No names to let us know who they are or a date to let us know when taken. Guessing some where in the 1930s or 1940s. Would love to hear your ideas of dating this photo.
Take a moment to look at other offerings at Sepia Saturdays. I will be posting my picture there.

SEPIA SATURDAY 152 ~ Young Lady Reading Her Bible
For todays Sepia Saturday the theme is reading. I love to read mysteries. I admit I love use bookstores and love the smell of an old book store. Hubby and I owned a used bookstore and for two years had 2 stores.
I searched among my collection of old pictures and found this wonderful cabinet photo of a young lady sitting with her bible in her lap. She is pointing to a certain verse but of course we have no idea what verse.
Bibles are important today but in the 1900s they really an important part of the family life. I have a collection of old family bibles. One of my favorites belonged to one of my great grandmothers.
I hope you enjoy looking at this wonderful old photo. Sadly I have no idea who she is or even where it was taken.
Her dress is full and has puffed sleeves and around her neck is a heart pendant. I would guess she was in her early 20s when taken.
Thanks for stopping by to see my Sepia Saturday posting. I will be sharing this over at Sepia Saturday of UK . Take a moment to peek at what others are sharing. You never know what you will find. Grace

Sepia Saturday 150: 3 November 2012 ~ President John F Kennedy in Duluth Minnesota
Time for Sepia
Saturday 150: 3 November 2012 , click on link to see what others are posting.
Posting is political, Irish or sports.
I am sharing a personal snap shot from family collection. I believe it is of President John F Kennedy here in Duluth Minnesota campaigning to become president. He was here in 1960 and 1963. You can read about it here.
I am guessing a uncle of mine took this picture or maybe even an aunt of mine. Sadly I do not know who the gentle men are with John Kennedy.
Small snap shot black and white and a family treasure for sure. I share this over at Sepia Saturday. Thanks for stopping by. Grace

TREASURES FOUND AT A MOVING SALE 10/31/12 HALLOWEEN GHOST
Hubby spotted a moving sale on Craigs list yesterday. I am glad we took the time to drive to sale.
Found 2 Halloween mold figures that light up a ghost and a pumpkin. Perfect for Halloween and very desireable as decorations. I used them last night in our window. The figures cost me a total of $7.00. Very sellable on the eBay or Craigs list for alot more than that.
We love to collect metal bells and found a nice one for $5.50 to add to our collection and on a shelf found this nice Fire King Batter Bowl for $3.50. The bell we will keep but the batter bowl will be put up for sale either on eBay or in the antique store.
Add to this 5 nice hard covers on Lake Superior, Logging camps and one on Alaska. They will be sold either in the store or on line at Amazon. Each were marked $4.00 but got them for $2.00 each.
Great buys and worth the drive and time. May have to go back today and see what I want to add to the pile of goodies.

CASH FOR TRASH WEDNESDAY 10/11/12
Hubby and I love to hunt garage sales, thrift stores and auctions for treasures to resell on eBay, Etsy and the Antique Stores.

The postcards were in vintage black scrap books that former owner displayed them in.

360 + VINTAGE early 1900s Postcards with album France, Spain Black White Color sold for $122.00 a little over a week ago.
I bought these a few months ago at an estate auction and do not know exactly what I paid but I do know there is a great profit between these 2 post card albums. Plus I have 3 more albums with post cards to list for sale in the near future.
Well thats it for now. Another day and another dollar to make. Thanks for stopping by. Grace

DO YOU NEED TO BUY NEW OR CAN YOU BUY AT A GARAGE SALE
I know several people who turn their nose up at buying something at a garage sale or even a thrift store. I love to shop all of the above plus flea markets. What I do not like is malls and big stores even more.
I can spend hours at a flea market and at the mall I am in and out as soon as a possible.
Just a few weeks ago we were visiting the twin cities to see family and friends. Of course part of the time is spent at garage sales. We are always on the hunt to find items to sell on the Internet or Craig's List. I have to admit I do not use Craigs List enough.
Back to my hunting, we were towards the end of the day when I spotted a garage sale down an alley. One of the first item I spotted was a bread maker that looked almost new. Just the day before my girlfriend Al had made us home made pizza using the bread maker to make her dough. It was the best I had ever had and I could imagine making my own pizza at home.
We have made about 8 loaves of bread, no more store bought bread in this house but have not made the home made pizza as of yet.
Here is a picture of my bread maker and one of my loaves of bread. Well worth the $20.00 spent.
Do you have to buy new or do you buy used if possible? Grace
