Orphan Photo # 47 Little Girls And Their Dolls .... A Glimpse Of The Past .. Vintage Thingies Thursday

I found this photo recently at an antique store to resell on eBay. It has two darling little girls in their winter coats and hats holding their new dolls

Back of photo says " Our " twins " Everybody thinks they are. With two of the dolls they got for Christmas. Norma calls them creepy dolls ... she means sleepy doll.

No other identification but what do we know?

One little girl's name is Norma

They are not really twins

They live some where cold enough for coats and hats

They are wearing shoes that look like they are from the early 1900's

The little girl on the left appears to be wearing glasses

The building on the right looks like it is either a large house or their are two houses real close together. Their is a fence at the front of one of them.

I found these at an antique store in the Houston Texas area but who knows where the photo is really taken

Orphan Photo # 52 CDV Racine Wisconsin

Orphan photo is a Vintage CDV is of a middle age woman from Racine Wisconsin. Sadly there is no name on this photo so no way to identify her. I love to look at these old photos and see how women dressed. These ladies are dressed very proper. No flesh showing, buttons up the front and a large collar. Their dresses always seem so tight across the bodice and arms. This photo is probably from the early 1900's.

Orphan Photo # 51 CDV Fantastic hat

One more wonderful vintage CDV photo of an elderly lady in her fantastic hat. What a wonderful photo. She is dressed in probably one of her best dresses. It is a plaid material with a large ruffle in the bodice area. Her hat is has a small brim and a large feather standing straight up from the top.

Back is marked 1899 Merry Christmas and has the last name of Peet of New York, the same as the previous posting. The first name has been erased by some material being stuck to the back side of the photo. First name might start with an In and then a middle initial of E. She is could be the sister or sister in law of previous posting.

Orphan Photo # 50 CDV Great Hat

Take a peek at another vintage CDV I have of ladies in wonderful hats. This one is a older lady all dressed up in her best and with a hat. Fantastic hat in at least two colors ( of course this is black and white so no idea what color it was) . Has a piece that stands up, and some fluff at back of head. If you look closely you can see she is wearing eyeglasses. They have a chain so she can hang them around her neck.

Bonus is that this is identified . Lady name is Maria Peet and is written Christmas 1899 and that is from New York. Town looks like Cerenovia or something like that.

Is this not a wonderful vintage CDV photo. Not only is she beautiful but she has one of the most beautiful hats I have seen photographed . She is also in a fantastic coat with fur color surrounding her face.

And it is identified. This beauty is Estella ( Stella ) Rufer

Orphan Photo #48 Real Photo Postcard

What a precious young child. Darling little girl on the porch of her home with a pouty face. there is no post mark so I do not know exact age but probably early 1900's. Great message written ... hard to read at times.

" Dear Folks Here is Jean's picture on the east side of porch by bedroom door. A man came along this Thursday asked to take it. They took every children under 6 years of age for motion picture film for one of their theaters. Its a baby contest prizes are given Dec 29th. I had to wake Jeanys and of course she was " pouty". I got your good letter today with Grace's included. Did my 1st big washing today since I'm here. every colored dress for Jean was in it. Say Papa, I never knew a dipper was before. It works fine. Have a lame shoulder. I have been embroidering evenings until I am gets home on some Xmas stuff. So I guess that is what causes it. Glad Grace had such a nice time at Cleveland. Its such a pretty day and I must get Jean out so will leave you. Am sending you a couple Linton? daily papers jut to show you what they are like nothing of ? ? that will interest you . Lots of love from us all your daughter Za? "

Most of this I can read and has a lot of information but do not have any idea who these folks are so a lost piece of history.

Here is a sweet young girl in this vintage Cabinet Photo from probably the late 1890's to the early 1900's. Sadly we have no name to identify this beautiful young curly young girl. The photographer J A Rider of Wellsville New York.

I love the chair and fur blanket that is surrounding her..

Another handsome young man in this cabinet photo. Once again an orphan photo . No names written. I love what looks like a tie, but I am wondering if it is a print shirt with a white collar. Plus he has a pin on his label. To hard to make out what is on the pin.

Photographer looks like W C Burkaloui or something like that. No town listed

Here is another vintage cabinet photo that found its way into my hands through an estate sale. This photo is of a handsome young man dressed in a three piece suit. You can see the chain from a pocket watch, he is wearing a brimmed hat and leaning on what looks like a walking stick. He appears to be in early twenties and has a very light mustache. With the magnifying glass it looks like he is wearing a ring on the pinkie finger of his left hand. I can not remember a ring on other photos I have so will have to take a closer look at them. I see pocket watches now will have to be on the out look for rings.

This photo is probably from the early 1900's. There is no name on the back so we have no idea to who this young man is. We do know that it was photographed in Buena Vista Colorado by the C. W. Eardlen photographer.

Buena Vista, Colorado, nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountain's Collegiate Peaks. I went to search for information on Buena Vista and came up with more information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buena_Vista,_Colorado . Buena Vista incorporated in 1879 and grew as a railroad town serving the local silver, gold, and lead mining industry, with three rail lines including the Denver & Rio Grande, South Park & Pacific, and Colorado Midland railroads. Many of the existing buildings of Buena Vista date back to this era, and were built in the 1880s and 1890s. Sounds beautiful to me and would be a great place to visit in the Summer. No more snow for this girl.

Tonights orphan photo is of an elderly gentleman from the Racine Wisconsin area. No names are written so we do not know who he was. Photographer was Thomas , on College Avenue in Racine Wisconsin.

Size is a CDV and is from the early 1900's. He is probably dressed in his best suit including a small tie. Hair and beard are nicely trimmed.

Sadly this is an unknown photo that got separated from its family.
