Wishing You A Merry Christmas With A Few Thoughts From Me

Meet my great nephews and neice .. are they not adorable.. Boy do I miss seeing those faces weekly.
As this wonderful Christmas holiday approaches us I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and pray that we all welcome in a wonderful New Year. I pray that our next year is better and more prosperous than the last for all of us.
As we share the holidays with our family and friends lets please think and pray for those that are less fortunate then us.Pray for the hungry, the homeless and those suffering from addictions , diseases and mental illness. My one thought always is " but for the grace of God there go I ".
Lets take a moment and pray for our service men and service women. And for those that are in harms way in a foreign country give them an extra thought and prayer. Pray for their families that are left here to deal with every day happenings without them. The majority of them do so much for so little.
Lets pray for our government officials that they have the wisdom to do what is best for all of us and the knowledge to do it with out fighting.
If you are still blessed to have your parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts be thankful. Take a moment to hug and kiss them. Take a few minutes and ask them to share their stories with you. Some day sadly they will be gone and you will then wish that you knew more of their history.
I am reminded of a conversation at my hubby's birthday party. I made a comment about getting married the first time and my step son and his family had never heard that story. I have been married to husband #2 for almost 22 years. We celebrate our wedding anniversary on the 30Th of December. They know very little about my history. That is probably my fault and maybe some of theirs.

This is hubby and me 10 years ago at a dinner theater on New Years eve. Guess it is time to get a new nice picture of us. He still has the tie and I probably still have that outfit. Question is can I still get into it.
So much contact today is emails and text messages. I personally detest text messages saying" happy anything " Take a moment and call your family. Here a voice and say I love you to some one. When I get one I just delete it as if it did not happen. Except for one text message from my grand daughter Kirsten. She sent me one and it is of a loud " Kiss " and "I Love You"I play it often. It was not sent for a birthday, Christmas message or any reason other than she thought of me and sent it. Grandpa got one too. Thanks Kirsten I smile when I replay it.
I am busy always searching and writing about my ancestors but I guess it is time to do some sharing of my life in writing. How I wish I had more of my parents, grandparents and past relatives stories. There are so many stories untold. As I share some of my life on my family blog site I have been printing some of them so I can give to family in the future.
Now with all of that I will leave you for now. It is time to make another pot of coffee, put on one of my favorite Christmas movies " Love Actually " with Hugh Grant and make my Watergate Salad for our Christmas eve party tonight.
I appreciate all of you that take a moment to visit my sites and to those of you who leave a message an extra thank you . Merry Christmas to you and your families .. Grace

Family Photos Vintage Cars Need Help Identifying

I am going through family photos and these are two cars my father owned.
My dad loved cars way to much. Every time my mama turned around my dad had traded in his car. Some where there is a list of some of the cars he owned. Wish I could find that piece of paper.

I am showing these photos here and hoping some car person can identify them for me.

First car is when we lived in Texas . Probably was later 1940's . I can not make out the exact year but think I see a 4?. The license plate is Texas for sure and I think it says Kaiser on the front.

What year and is it a Kaiser?

Second car is parked on a street some where. looks like snow on ground so either Michigan or Minnesota.
I love the buildings and signs in the back ground. Conoco, S& H, Grain belt. I am working on trying to figure out the building on the left towards back sign on building may help me identify where taken

Okay on the car what year and make?

I want to look for more photos of my dad's cars to put together in an album as a great tribute to him and his cars.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Second photo is of a handsome young man probably very early 20's . Photographer is Joh Thorsen Christiania.

Both of these photos are so sweet but sadly have no names on them.

Vintage Orphan Photo # 78 CDV Sepia Man With Big Mustache #2

Here is another Vintage Sepia Photo Man With Big Mustache posting #2. This is a CDV or
carte de visite or visiting card picture of another handsome young man with a mustache, but he also has a very neatly trimmed beard. Dressed in probably his best suit he is posing for us. His suit is a 3 piece with wide collar. If you note his tie is different than yesterday's posting. This one is thin and has a piece of jewelry or button in the middle.

The back of the photo shows us that it was printed by U Scott's Photograph Gallery
in G W Miller's New Block Waterloo Iowa P O Box 255
Sadly we have no name so this is another orphan photo that I have bought for my online store to sell. We do no that he probably lived in Iowa at this time, He appears to be early 20's. CDV became popular around the 1860's to 1890's. This tells us he was born some time in the later 1800's. To better date this we would need to be able to date his clothing and I am not an expert on that. My best guess is that this is dated around 1890. What do you think?
For more information on the CDV you can read here
thanks for stopping by... hope that you will visit again real soon. Grace

Looking at these old photos is a great way to see what was in fashion at that period.

Craft Show On My Mind

This is what is on my mind today.

This is on my mind" is a Friday photo feature that anyone with a blog can join. It can open the door to us sharing our lives with these photos. This can give us all a new way to discover each other, and maybe form new friendships. Hosted by Rhonda at the Down to Earth blog.

What is on my mind is getting ready for a craft/art show that is tomorrow (12/11). The Weather people on the TV are telling us that there is a snow storm coming. If it hits heavy tomorrow this probably will hurt us at the show.
This will be my first craft/art show in 15 years and I am /was looking for good results.
Time will tell how it turns out. In the mean time I am still working.
This little Christmas Tree is what I am working to finish today. It is made with vintage 2"by 2" squares hot glued to a Styrofoam Christmas Tree. Very time consuming but so pretty.
What is on your mind? Check the other postings at Down to Earth and join in if you have a blog.
Thanks for stopping by.. you can view my other craft items at other postings. Grace
