Orphan Photo 43

Here is an interesting vintage cabinet photo . One one side is a nice clear photo of what I am guessing is a mother and child. I love the clothes from the time. The mother is dressed in a long dress with high collar and long sleeves plus a big hat. The darling child is in a short dress with a big bonnet. Looks like railroad tracks in the back ground. So my guess is they are at a railroad station. Sadly no names on the photo to identify.

Then on the back side is a faded photo of a couple.

I have never seen this before in my buying of vintage photos.

Enjoy and thanks for stopping by.. grace

Orphan Photo #42 Texas Mr and Mrs Henry Carl Berndt

This is the other cabinet photo I bought at the antique store. It also is identified and I hope that a family member finds it when I offer it on ebay. This picture is smaller and is of an older couple. It is identified as Mr and Mrs Henry Carl Berndt Industry Texas and has written in ink Emilie Wertz Berndt . In pencil it has Emilie written and not sure if they are trying to tell us that it is Emile parents or if the lady is Emilie.

Did a quick check on ancestry and came up with no information on him.

Hope that you have enjoyed seeing this orphan photo I found... Thanks For Stopping By .. Grace

Orphan Photo # 41 Houston Texas Frank and Bertha Koehler Wedding

Take a look at the great vintage cabinet photo I found this week at an antique store. I plan to put this up for sale on my eBay site but wanted to give you a preview.
I love vintage wedding photos and this one is fantastic. She is in the most beautiful dress with ruffles. There is a flower in her hair and her bouquet is fairly large.
The groom is a real handsome young man with three piece suit and a mustache.
Best of all this one is identified. So sad that families let them go.
Back is identified as Frank and Bertha Berndt Koeher Houston Texas Wedding photo.

I found them in the 1910 census in Texas. Census says he is 36 and she is 20 and that they had been married 5 years. If this fact is true she was 15 when they married. The census has him born in Germany and she was born in Texas.
I did not find them in Texas in 1920 on a quick search.

Orphan Photo # 40 Sweden

Here we are back to vintage CVD photos of men from overseas.
This handsome man is probably in his early 20's and has the coolest of thin mustache
Photographer was Tonsas and looks like Anette Haag. I am guessing this is another photo from Sweden
Sadly it is also unidentified so we do not know who he was.

Orphan Photo # 37 Sweden

Here is a forgotten orphan CDV photo of a young man. Photographer was G J Kylander ( I think ) in the town of Kalmer, Sweden. Want to learn about Kalmer click on the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalmar. I did not find anything on the Photographer.
This is from the early 1900's and I am guessing he is in his late teens to very early 20's.
I have other photos from this photographer I will be sharing.
Sadly there is no name on this orphan photo.
Thanks For Stopping By... Grace

Orphan Photo # 36 of Mother and Child

This is another wonderful old photo I bought some time ago. It is from 1931 and marked mary and Jean. What a beautiful baby and the women is so pretty. Her hair has wavy curls of that time period. I bought several photos of this child at one estate sale including wedding photos. All I remember now is that they were from Georgia.

Always is so sad when families do not keep their photos. Hope that you have enjoyed seeing this wonderful photo from 1931.

Orphan Photo # 35 Ronald Paul

Some vintage photos I can not pass up. I have this urge to buy a photo, to own it for awhile and then sell on eBay in hopes to find a family member or fill someone's collection of vintage photos

This one is special. Not only is the child adorable but he is identified. Photos of black children are not often found at estate sales or antique malls.

This cutie is 1 year old Ronald Paul " Lonenza Cleaners " first boy. He is one years old in this photo. Sadly there is not last name or identifying city or state.

Hope that you have enjoyed seeing this wonderful vintage photo. I am guessing that this photo is from the 1940's

Orphan Photo # 34 Tin Type

Here is another vintage tin type photo. This one is of a beautiful young woman. Her hair is done up and she is wearing a cross around her neck. She has a scarf around her neck also. I do not remember any of my other vintage photos having a cross around the ladies neck. Interesting, I will have to watch for other's posing with their cross.

Tin type is in a paper frame and the tin type is scratched sadly. I love these old tins. I probably bought this while I was living in Minnesota. No markings to tell me where she lived or who she was.

Thanks for stopping by...

Orphan Photo # 32

This cabinet photo that is of a middle age man with a mustache and curly hair in probably his best suit. Came out of a photo album I bought some time ago. There was a name written in the photo album in pencil but hard to know what his name may really be. Looks like W W Warnard. Nothing on the photos identifies where or who photographed.

This is one of many orphan photos I have bought to sell on eBay either to collectors or better yet a family member. http://stores.ebay.com/TurnAbout01

Orphan Photo # 28 Texas Houston 1894 School Children

This is a wonderful old photo of school children from 1894 that I found at an antique store recently. It is so sad that some one did not keep this within there family.

Photo is faded, but still can make these cute faces. Back of photo says

Felton first grade Jordy school Houston Mar 15 1894.

I have not been able to find if there was a school called Felton or if that is Jordy last name.
I will be offering for sale and hopefully find someone who knows an ancestor that may be in this photo or someone who collects vintage photos of children.

Orphan Photo 27 Vermont Masked Cabinet Parker

Here is another postmortem cabinet photo in my vintage photos. This one is sad since it is of two young children. This poor family lost two children at or near the same time.

Makes me think of my great great grandparents Betsey and Dwight Day who lost 3 children to scarlet fever within a months time.

Top of photo in back written in pencil is Parker children Bradford Vermont. The Photographer was Bracy of Wells River Vermont.

The children appear to be little boys about a year or two apart. I will be putting this picture up for sale in my eBay store. May link up to a distant family member some day.
Thanks for stopping by... Have a great day... Grace

Orphan Photo 26 Masked Cabinet Mr.Templeton

A treasure from the past are cabinet photos, but this is a different type of cabinet photo. It is a postmortem photo.
They are telling us that this person has past on. They would take a previous cabinet photo and enclose it in falling leaves or another design to tell that they had died.
This one I picked up at an estate sale here in the Houston Texas area.
Appears to be a young man either in late teens or early 20's.
No mention of photographer.
Back of photo in light pencil is written what looks like H W Templeton.

Orphan Photo 23 24 and 25 Real Postcards

Today was a " Lets Go Antiquing " day. My quest was for vintage postcards and photos of interest to me and others to tell you about and to sell on eBay.

I found several wonderful items today, I am starting with 3 vintage real photo postcards all are of young women wearing glasses.

I rarely find a vintage photo with someone wearing glasses and today I found three all at the same Antique store and same dealer.

First photo is of three beautiful young women the youngest with a big bow in her hair. This is the only one identified and is marked Myrtle, Floy and Violet.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360203976461&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
Second post card is two young women probably sisters. I am guessing this is from the late 1910's or 1920's by their clothing. This one is also foreign, stamp area is marked differently and Post card is marked Carte Postale. Probably from France or French / Canadian.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360203976451&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
Third post card is of a woman a little older but not old. She is dressed in her best coat and gloves. She is also wearing a great hat with some decoration on the side probably a flower and high top shoes.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360203976446&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
All three post cards are unused and in good condition. The old saying is " Men Don't Make Passes At Girls Wearing Glasses " but I am guessing all these ladies at passes made at them. They are all simply adorable.

I hope that you enjoyed tonight's post and come back to see other treasures I found today. Quite a few of them are vintage Thanksgiving and Christmas Post cards and will be posted on my other site http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=4127199388190162153

Another forgotten photo from the past. This handsome young man was from Broken Bow Nebraska. Photographed at the North side Photo Galley. Came from an old photo album I bought. He was identified as what looks like Parry Dye or could be Larry Dye.

So sad these photos get separated from their family.

You can find our vintage photos, postcards and other items in our eBay store
