The weeks can pass by so fast. Between going to auctions twice a week and hunting garage sales 2 to 3 times a week we can be very busy. Probably will have mo garage sales today since it is rainy and very foggy.
Last Thursday we were at one of our local auction houses. It was getting late, we were getting antsy and ready to head home. Up comes a rack of vintage clothing from a seller. The first few items went for a few dollars. At the end the whole rack was offered minus the metal rack of course for $2.50. I bid and won thinking I can take to a local organization to give to those who are looking for clothing free.
Well on boxing it up hubby and I noticed the suits were in good condition and vintage 1970s probably. Well made and in good condition.
Time to now start researching men's styles and sort through those to resell and those to take to give away. I am off to the library and the used bookstores to see if I can find books on clothing styles.
Here is just one of my found suits. I think it is from the 1970's. Brand is Pendleton and has a western leisure style.
Other than a couple of stains it is in great condition. Hope that your treasure hunting is fun and profitable. Have a great day. Grace

Garage Sale Hunting Today and Yesterday
What a beautiful day here in Duluth. Temperatures in the low 70s and lots of sales. Wandered a few yesterday and a couple today.
First sale yesterday was a church sale. We were a little late but did not matter. What should be waiting for me but a first edition James Patterson The Jerico Commandment.
This is author's second book and was retitled later to See How They Run. Hubby listed it last night on Amazon and eBay for $79.99. If it had been signed it would been over $200.
I found a cute little travel case to put in the antique store.
Towards end of day came across a beautiful little home made quilt in pastel colors that will be put up for sale on eBay this Sunday.
How are your garage sales going?

VINTAGE POSTCARDS 300 FOUND AT AUCTION OVER some Military World War 1
Monday night we were at one of our local auction houses. One of the items offered was a box of over 300 vintage post cards. I was the lucky buyer at a great price for me. Last night hubby and I went through them, sorting and starting to organize them to resell.
The post cards that first got my attention was some ones that were from World War 1. This is a popular topic with collectors either on the Internet or at another local auction. What I will probably do is offer them in the upcoming Antique auction and attempt to turn some fast money. I also have some old vintage photos that are military related. These will be offered also at that same auction.
Until I bring them to the auction house I will share some of them here.
This one is titled Artillery at Camp Lakeview, Lake City, Minn
It is addressed to Master George Chamberlain of Excelsior, Minn. Postmarked 1908
post card 3 Barbed wire cut, Americans creeping on the Germans with hand grenades France
photo 4 Victory in Paris 14 July 1919 this is actually printed in French

TREASURES ARE ALL AROUND US ~ VINTAGE HUNTING PHOTOS FOUND
You never know what you will find when you walk into an estate sale. Yesterday was another Saturday, another day to see what could be found to resell. Some days are just difficult to find anything of interest at a good price.
We started Saturday out with helping to serve breakfast to the neighorhood at our church. A good way to spend a little time with those in the neighbor. Good food and some smiling faces.
After helping to clean up it was off to go to a couple of estate sales in search for treasures. Times are tough and hunting is tough. Either there is nothing that interests me or the prices are to high to make any money.
First sale was a bust and second sale was pretty much a bust until I spotted an old photo album. Not so old to be antique but the old kind with the metalic pages. Within this album was over 85 photos some guys enjoying their hunting trips. Lots of pictures of deer and elk alive and dead. Not the kind of photos I would want to have but I knew instantly that some one may be interested in. At only a $1.00 I could not go wrong.
Tonight while watching the academy awards I got it ready for auction on eBay. Time will tell if it sells but until then I have hope and I am out only $1.00.

BLACK AND WHITE SNAPSHOTS ORPHAN PHOTOS CONTINUE 107 108 109,110
I can not help myself, not only do I enjoy my own family photos and year books, I am a sucker for those that do not belong to me.
I want to look at them, wonder about the people in the picture and then pass them on to others.
Whether they are sold in my spot at the antique store or on eBay they are my precious treasures till they have moved on. Right now I have three great auctions vintage photos for sale on eBay.
For some reason pictures of people in their caskets are popular. I do not understand it but bought some vintage photos at auction and several were this type. A older man in his casket and photos of people at cemetery. I picked two and put them up for auction. If they sell I have others to offer. Orphan photos 107 and 108 are below.
Then there is the one of a gentleman from either the 1940's or 1950's I am guessing. He is standing in front of what looks like corn and behind him is his band. What makes this old black and white snapshot picture a treasure of history is his van. Written on it is the bible verse John 3: 16. He is a traveling preacher spreading his belief. Here is orphan photos 109
Last is orphan photo 110 of a darling young boy in the field with his dog and pitch fork.
No names or locations on any othese these photos I am sad to report.
Hope that you enjoy seeing these treasures and if interested grab them today. They end tomorrow evening. Grace

AUCTION FINDS ~ HIDDEN TREASURES IN BOXES OF BOOKS DULUTH CENTRAL 1915 YEARBOOK
Almost the middle of February and I am getting antsy for garage sale season. It can not come fast for either my hubby or me. At this time of the year hubby and I limited to either thrift stores or the local auction houses. There is estate sales every once in awhile but they are always priced higher so I have to watch myself so I do not spent too much for an item. There is one estate sale today and bargain day tomorrow so maybe I will find some treasure to resell. Hubby and I went to one of the local auctions last night. Pickings were slim. I saw one mid century round shelf I liked was considering to resell but it went to high to buy and make any money. Then there was a cute little chair mid century also, I considered it until they moved it to go with a desk that it did not match. There were boxes of books but nothing caught my eye, hubby is more patient and dug a bit and found two boxes that he thought were worth while bidding on. He did the bidding and won the two boxes. We went through them and picked the ones we wanted and the remainder will be resold at another auction. After they finished with things we were interested in we left and headed home. Got home just about 9 pm and sat at our computer to check out our books. I ended up listing four of them on Amazon for an asking price of $75.00. The treasure of the bunch in my opinion is this 1915 copy of Duluth Central High School yearbook. I had not bothered to look in these boxes because it looked like old junk. That behavior will change from this day forward. This is my high school and they closed it for good last year. Shame on the beings that chose to close my school and then sink money into the other two high schools. That is another rant for future days. Duluth Central opened up in 1892 in down town Duluth and it is a thing of beauty. This yearbook is fantastic, after all these years it is in amazing condition. There are 266 pages plus an index of the students and the quality of the pages is outstanding. This would make a great addition to any family history collection. I will be selling this vintage year book. But until it is sold will enjoy looking through it. There are at least two memoriam's to students who died before the class graduated. One is a female named Rae Madge Abraham who died from illness and then two boys who drowned. The boys names were James Arthur Kelly and Gerald Francis McCormack. I did not have any family members living in Duluth at this time so no chance of finding family members. Have you found anything of interest to resell lately. I would love to hear your stories of found treasures.

VINTAGE ORPHAN PHOTO # 106 1900's Cabinet Family Photo HATS Included
Orphan Photo #106 is sadly not identified. No markings to tell us where they even lived. No names to tell us where they live.
What we do have is a young family pictured. Five men, two young women and a total of 7 children. Girls have matching hats. Do you think they have a nautical look? The boys have caps on. The lady on the right has a really plain hat that almost looks like a male hat.
Found this at a local auction recently and will be offered for sale on eBay soon for the cabinet family collector.
Thanks for stopping by, take a moment and look at my other vintage photos. Grace

BIRCHWOOD WISCONSIN 1929 BABY ERNEST Orphan Photo # 105
I am a sucker for old photos, I go to an auction, estate sale or antique store and I always have to check out the photos. I find it so sad that they are sitting some where other than a family photo album.
This old snapshot is of baby Ernest who is about 5 1/2 months old in the year 1929. Only identifying mark is written the year, first name and Birchwood Wisconsin.
Will put up for sale in my eBay store and hope that some one will want it because they collect or someone will recognize the people pictured and they will want to add to their family photo.
Till then it sits in my orphan photo album.
Thanks for taking a stop by Grace

Auctions Finds Last Night To Resell Tom Swift Books Red Wagon and Wicker Bassinet
Fun night at one of the local auctions. It was their antique auction between Christmas and New Years.
We have decided to expand our space at antique store #2. Business has been good and feel it will only increase.
We sell alot of small items that cost around the $10.00 price range. Last night I hoped to find a couple items that would bring in a little more money.
I was able to buy this vintage red Radio Chief wagon. I paid $25.00 for it and hope to sell it for around $60 to $75.
Friends of ours wanted a vintage wood play pen included was a white wicker bassinet. They did not want it so passed it on to us. I looked it up on eBay and they sell for around $50.00 to $75.00 plus shipping.
What a great freebie. I will treat them to pizza once it sells to celebrate.
Books found were several older ones with the ones we wanted being Tom Swift several from the series. All the others in the lot of books bought will just be a bonus.
Was a fun night at the auction house. Time spent with friends visiting and looking for treasures.
Do you go to auctions to find treasures for yourself or to resell. I would love to hear what you have found.
Thanks for stopping by hope that you will take a minute and look at some of my other finds. Grace

VINTAGE ORPHAN PHOTO # 104 DARLING YOUNG CHILDREN BOZELL FAMILY
Orphan Photo # 104 is of four young children. Two are boys and two are darling little girls. The girls are wearing matching dresses.
This is a cabinet photo with photographer name looking like SD Hirst. On back is written in pencil Gust Johnson . Written in pen is Harvey Bozell first row which leads me to believe is the boy in the back. Under that is written Mamie Echerson, Dewey Bozell and Alpha Bozell.
Being that the girls are in matching dresses and have different last names makes me believe that she may have lived with them with her parents passing away or some other tragedy.
I have found a Harvey Bozell on ancestry living in Indiania. I do not know if this is same Harvey but if so would love to share this picture with them.

Vintage Orphan Photo # 102 TODAYS PHOTO FROM THE PAST ~ LITTLE PEOPLE CABINET WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHED late 1800's
I recently rescued several photos from an auction a couple of weeks ago. This is the one I wanted among the pile. Sadly it has no names or even the photographer listed on it.
It is of a young couple who are what we consider little people today in the political correct world.
This cabinet photo is from the late 1890s to early 1900's and they are probably a married couple. It very well could be their wedding photo. It has faded over time.
These are rare photos to find and the first I have been able to purchase. I will pass it on to a collector at some time in the future. I feel it has a value of between $20.00 to $40.00. If we had their names it would be priceless to their family.
Thank you for stopping by to view one of my found treasures. Take a moment and look at past postings if you like.. Grace

VINTAGE THANKSGIVING POSTCARD Early 1900's
Hard to believe but Thanksgiving is upon us. At this time I think of past Thanksgivings. Time with family and friends. Mostly wonderful memories of wonderful food and time with my family. My parents and grandparents are gone but the memories stay. What a beautiful Thanksgiving table they would prepare. Wonderful food, wonderful smells and lots of laughter. Later in the evening we would draw names to give gifts to at Christmas time. Whose name would we pick and what would we buy them. Wonderful memories of the past. I hope that 20 to 30 years from now my grandchildren will remember fond memories of these days spent with their parents and grandparents.
Today I am sharing one of my vintage Thanksgiving postcards. Hope all is well with you and that you have a wonderful holiday. Thanks for stopping by to visit. Grace

Fun Time Spent At The Local Auctions Treasures Found And Missed 11/22/11
Tonight was auction night. If you have ever gone to auctions on a regular basis as we do, soon people find out what you buy and start to get an interest in those items. If I am buying costume jewelry then they will start to bid it up. If it is found out I sold vintage baseball gloves on ebay all of a sudden the price goes up so high that there is no profit to really be made.
Tonight I decided to walk around and find something small on several tables. Something that is a bit off the wall that I could put in my antique mall.
End of the night I had an unusal coconut head made to look a pirate,
a neat vintage nautical picture,
an old frame with two wedding pictures or maybe one wedding picture and the other is a lady in white with bible and rosary. Not sure if wedding photo or something else. Have any of you ever seen a early 1900's photo with the bride only, no groom? Need to figure that out before selling. Frame has paint chipping. Need to do something there.
Sitting under one table was a small box and stuck in there were some vintage Fuller Brush letter openers, old advertising stir stick, beer openers with advertising plus a knife.
Buy of the night was a turn of the century knife.
There were a couple of things I would of liked but price went to high. Secret is to know when to stop the bidding
End of the night results is hubby and I had a fun evening visiting with friends and searching for treasures to resell.
Hope that your treasure hunting is fun and profitable. Thanks for stopping by.. Grace

I Love Chunky Vintage Altered Art Bracelets One Of A Kind Treasures
I love bracelets big chunky charm bracelets. I have recently dug out beads from vintage necklaces, charms and I have been busy looking for vintage charm bracelets.
So far I have made two different charm bracelets. This is one of them. A Christmas theme charm bracelet.
I had found a colorful red and white bead necklace at a church sale and that was the starting pieces of this cute bracelt.
I have added a heart, chains, beads and bells to it. Hope that you are having fun with your altered art crafts or repurposing vintage items into new treasures.

VINTAGE ELEVATOR CALL BUTTONS FOUND AT LOCAL AUCTION
Monday night we went to the auction as usually. Among the antique furniture, glassware and collectible dolls were some interesting industrial looking pieces. Different than every thing else and pieces of history.
I was able to buy 2 call buttons from what was once Glass Block in down town Duluth Minnesota. I have great memories of taking a taxi cab ride with my mom and sister to shop for clothes. After shopping we would take the elevator to the basement to eat at the counter.
I have now listed one of them on eBay for auction and they should do well. Wonderful pieces of history and would make great decorating pieces or book ends.
On a different table was 4 United States mail box covers.
Another piece of metal from old. These had a combination to open them up to get the mail. They also will be listed for auction sometime this week.
Add an old telephone bell
and a box of keys plus a bag full of old bank bags and we had a perfect night of fun bidding.
One error was an old camera I bought for $3.00. I did not pay attention and the camera is missing, but who cares. It as a note of when it was given as a Christmas gift and from who. Can sit on a table as a decorating piece and even hide a treasure inside if some one wants to.
Hope that you finds are fun whether you are hunting estate sales, thrift stores or auction houses.

Estate Auction Finds
Hubby and I love to go to auctions. We go to at least two auctions every week at local auction houses. Some times it is nothing of interest and other times it is full of treasures I would love to have or resell.
One of my new items to hunt for to keep for a time or to resell is ashtrays. I am always looking for advertising ashtrays or for ashtrays with advertising.
I have a good start on some from Las Vegas. My favorite is the one from The Castaways a Hughes Hotel.
And then you have the ashtrays that are called Smokers. When you put your cigarette in the slot the smoke comes out from a ear or nose or whatever.
I no longer smoke but find collectible ashtrays a fun hobby. I now have two books on Collecting Ashtrays that are fun to just look through.
What do you like to collect.
Thanks for stopping by.. Grace

GARAGE SALES SEARCHING FOR TREASURES TO RESELL
It is garage sale time and hubby and I to search for items to resell at a local auction house, at the antique mall or on eBay or Amazon.
You never know what will turn up as you enter each sale. Yesterday hubby and I spent the morning going to different sales with the main idea of loading up on items to resell at the local auction house. I keep the small jewelry pieces to resell in my case at the antique mall but the other items are sold to other dealers or to collectors.
Soon I will share some of the mid century furniture I have been buying. We are moving into a bigger apartment and need furniture. I am in love with furniture from the 50's, furniture my mother would of had as I grew up. I am on the hunt for other blogs on decorating with items from this time period and will add those sites as I find them to this page.
Hope that you all have a fun filled day and thanks for stopping by. Grace

Hope that you all have a fun filled day and thanks for stopping by. Grace
