Orphan Photo # 16 Iowa

Today's posting is on a vintage CVD Card also known as a calling card. It is of a darling little child. Probably a girl. Wearing a ruffled dress and shoes with what looks like a decoration on them. Her hair is fairly short with small curls. Posed perfectly on a beautiful chair.

Sadly there is no name on this picture. Was Photographed by Ensiminger Brothers of Independence, Iowa.

There is some wear on the front and loss of front layer of coloring on upper right corner.

What we know is probably a little girl around 3 or 4 years old, living in or near Independence, Iowa and probably family had some money to buy a nice dress for her to wear for her photo.

Orphan Photo #15 Minnesota Minneapolis

I have just discovered a fun group of bloggers offering Vintage Thingies Thursday at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/.
This is my first entry.
Here are people from so many places who love their treasures.
This is a small CVS or what was considered as a calling card at this time in history.
What a pretty young lady. She has a large ruffle at her neck line, long hair tied back with a ribbon and looks like 3 tiny curls on each side of a part line. She looks to maybe be in her teens.
Sadly their is no name written on the photo.
The photographer was John H. Oleson of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Orphan Photo # 11 Kansas ? Postmortem of Baby

This is a vintage cabinet photo I found today of two little children. The little girl has darling curls but such a sad face. The baby is laying next to her and eyes are nearly closed.

When I first looked at it I wondered if it was a post mortem picture of the baby. Still not sure.. what do you think

Was photographed by Carpenter from Kansas City

On the back is written what looks like Marle Heinler and cousin Himlic Herring

Orphan Photo # 9 Minnesota Gladys Boynton

This is a Real Post Card of the most adorable baby sitting in a chair sideways. What an adorable pose.

This is addressed to

Miss Ethel Busse

Canton Minnesota

and on correspondence side says

Gladys Boynton or could be Boyston

I went to http://www.ancestry.com/ and found a Gladys Boyton born in Canton, Minnesota in 1915. This could be the same little girl.

She is wide eyed and a real beauty. I probably bought this in Minnesota when I lived there. It is one of my favorite vintage baby photos.

Orphan Photos # 5 to 8 Tin Type

This is a group of 4 pretty young women from my collection of Tin Type Photos.
Sadly their was no indication of who any of them are. I probably bought these while I lived in Minnesota.
Tintypes were produced in the USA from 1856 and became popular from the 1860s. They remained popular into the 1900s and as late as the 1920s.
They are poorer quality and harder to see the detail.
Photographers usually worked outside at fairs and carnivals and as the support of the tintype is resilient and does not need drying, instant photographs can be produced only a few minutes after taking the photograph.

Forgotten Orphan Vintage Photos The Beginning

I have always been drawn to vintage photos. It is sad to see them left behind at estate sales. This blog is my chance to share some of my collection with you. It is not large but grows piece by piece. I especially like to collect vintage photos of children and wedding pictures.
These photos may have been forgotten years ago but for today we are remembering these people.

I hope that you enjoy your time at my place on the internet and visit my other sites. My interests vary and this is my chance to share what I enjoy with all of you.

Tonight I am sharing the first of two photos of children that I just bought at an antique store this week here in Texas.
