DO YOU NEED TO BUY NEW OR CAN YOU BUY AT A GARAGE SALE

I know several people who turn their nose up at buying something at a garage sale or even a thrift store.  I love to shop all of the above plus flea markets.  What I do not like is malls and big stores even more.
I can spend hours at a flea market and at the mall I am in and out as soon as a possible.
Just a few weeks ago we were visiting the twin cities to see family and friends. Of course part of the time is spent at garage sales.  We are always on the hunt to find items to sell on the Internet or Craig's List. I have to admit I do not use Craigs List enough.

Back to my hunting, we were towards the end of the day when I spotted a garage sale down an alley. One of the first item I spotted was a bread maker that looked almost new. Just the day before my girlfriend Al had made us home made pizza using the bread maker to make her dough. It was the best I had ever had and I could imagine making my own pizza at home.
We have made about 8 loaves of bread, no more store bought bread in this house but have not made the home made pizza as of yet.
Here is a picture of my bread maker and one of my loaves of bread. Well worth the $20.00 spent.
Do you have to buy new or do you buy used if possible?  Grace

Garage Sale Hunting and Teasures Found

Saturday morning and the sun is shining and the sky is blue. Hardly a cloud in the sky. Plan is to go to a few garage sales to see if any treasures can be found.  So many of the sales are clothes and not vintage clothes.  Tables and tables of kids clothes sale after sale.  Last stop is an older couple and they are clearing out some of their household items.  The only thing of real interest was a nice silver plated tea pot with sugar and creamer. The bottom is marked Buckingham, with makers marks and that it is of heavy silver plate.

Should be a great addition to my booth at the antique store and my purchase price was only $10.00.

Hope that your garage sale hunting or selling is going great. Grace

GARAGE SALES SEARCHING FOR TREASURES TO RESELL

It is garage sale time and hubby and I to search for items to resell at a local auction house, at the antique mall or on eBay or Amazon.
You never know what will turn up as you enter each sale. Yesterday hubby and I spent the morning going to different sales with the main idea of loading up on items to resell at the local auction house. I keep the small jewelry pieces to resell in my case at the antique mall but the other items are sold to other dealers or to collectors.
Pictured here is some jewelry I found in a basement and paid just pennies for it. Two pieces are marked silver and one is gold filled.
Today we are getting ready for another day of searching.
Soon I will share some of the mid century furniture I have been buying. We are moving into a bigger apartment and need furniture. I am in love with furniture from the 50's, furniture my mother would of had as I grew up. I am on the hunt for other blogs on decorating with items from this time period and will add those sites as I find them to this page.
Hope that you all have a fun filled day and thanks for stopping by. Grace

Rare 1923 Franklin Sugar Recipe Book

I love Estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores and antique stores. We are always on the hunt for some treasure to buy and resell on the Internet to help suppliment our income.

Yesterday we were out hunting and stopped at a small estate/garage sale. Boy was it chilly. November in Northern Minnesota is not really garage sale time.

Well in this garage is a pile of books and as I look through them I found craft books on quilting, basket making and a couple of recipe/cookbooks to sell on the internet.
One of them was " The Franklin Sugar Sweetmeat book printed in 1923. Small recipe book and only 64 pages.

I will be listing it tonight on eBay but until it sell will share some of the recipes with you at my other blog http://www.couponloversunite.blogspot.com/. Stop over there if interested

It is rare and I have only found 2 other copies for sale on the Internet so far.
I will be posting this at

What have you found recently at sales. Thanks for stopping by..
