Estate Sale Hunting

Hubby and I found a couple of estate sales recently. Besides finding some books to sell on the Internet, I found a few items to use in some multi media art projects.

We found some some old books and rulers and paper.

Then I found some old vintage puzzles. Not quite sure what I will do with them yet. May glue them together and put a hanger on back, so they could be hung on a wall.

We have a Santa, Woody Wood Pecker among these old puzzles.

Here is a cute bear family...

Continuing To Creat Multi Media Crafts For Art/Craft Show

I have been working on more pieces to add to the Art/Craft Show in December. Here are some of the items I have finished so far.

This is a plastic ball I bought on sale at Michael's this last week, I scanned a picture of Santa from a vintage postcard.

The filling is from pages I tore out of vintage books, I used the covers in my other pieces of art.

A proud mama and her baby. Back ground is a page from one of my vintage books.

The above picture is of a pretty little girl posing on a horse with her mama.

Here we have a copy of a black and white picture of a car and the proud owners. Sitting in the front seat is two ladies. I think the young boy is just adorable. At the top is a copy of a vintage drivers license I found some time ago.

I have finished the back by gluing a page from a book and then gluing on a hanger so it can be displayed on a wall if desired. Would also fit just perfect in a display on a table or bookshelf.

These are made with covers from old books, vintage lace, pictures, keys, buttons, jewels and drift wood I collected from the Lake Superior beach this fall.

This will be my first art/craft show in over 15 years so and I am a little nervous and praying for some success.

Thanks for stopping by... Please take a moment looking around and I hope that you will return soon to see what I am up to.... Grace

Vintage Orphan CDV Photo # 75 1900's Couple Orphan Picture

Today's photo that I am sharing is a vintage CDV of a couple from the early 1900's. They are well dressed so probably were prosperous. She is dressed in a beautiful dress with darker trim decorating the bodice and wearing a hoop under her skirt that was the style then. Her husband is dressed in a three piece suit and appears some what older than her.

Sadly there is no name on the photo or photographer noted so we have no idea where they lived or who they were.

Thanks for stopping by.. hope that you will take a moment and look at my other photos. Please stop back soon... Grace

Getting Ready For Art / Craft Show In December

I have been busy getting ready for an Art/Craft show...

Back in October I was wandering around the Internet looking for inspiration
for something to make to sell at an art/craft show.
I have not been in an art/craft show for many years so am a little nervous.

While wandering the blogs I came across this cute idea at . I thought it was cute, easy to make and unique.

Next day I was off the antique store where I rent a case.
I was able to find some vintage door knobs at an okay price.
Next stop was to the craft store for some wire. At home I was able to come up with the other little items I needed. Old lace, vintage photos and Christmas Postcards and some tidbits to add. A piece of jewel or old button.

What do you think??
I have been busy doing some alter multi media book art. Will post those in a few days.
Hubby and I have visited a couple of shows this fall to see what is being made. I have not seen anything in the multi media art style. Hope that there is some interest and I can sell some of my art.

No matter what I had fun crafting and searching other blogs for inspiration.
Thanks for stopping by to visit. I hope that you will take a minute looking around and please do come back soon.. Grace
I have posted on these sites. There you will find other fun things to view

A Thrifty We Go .. RETRO Aqua and Gold Geometric Bowl and Lazy Susan

Hubby and I decided to go to our local Salvation army and Goodwill today.

Tuesday is Senior day at Salvation Army and we get a 25 percent discount. I spotted this vintage retro bowl in Aqua and Gold geometric design. In another area of the store I found a lazy Susan with two yellow and two aqua dishes for condiments or what ever.

It would be perfect on a buffet for olives, pickles or anything else. Middle of lazy Susan was open and I really think that the bowl belongs with this set. They were separated from each other and priced separately. With my discount I was able to buy for $7.50 plus tax.

I believe this set was from the 1950's to 1970's. Aqua was popular in the 1950's and then again in the 1970.

The lazy Susan part is made of metal and in not good shape with wear to the metal. I may not keep that piece or may even spray paint it gold colored.

Would love to hear from you. What year do you think this set is from and should I keep metal lazy Susan part or throw away???

Next stop was to Goodwill and there I found for $2.00 this Indiana Glass with Ruby Flash Goblet. Condition is good with no wear to the ruby Flash

Both of these pieces were bought for resell either on eBay or in my glass case at the Antique mall in Duluth. I probably will put in the Antique mall since I hate mailing glass items.

Thanks for stopping by.. Please take a moment before leaving and see some of my other postings. Grace

Rare 1923 Franklin Sugar Recipe Book

I love Estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores and antique stores. We are always on the hunt for some treasure to buy and resell on the Internet to help suppliment our income.

Yesterday we were out hunting and stopped at a small estate/garage sale. Boy was it chilly. November in Northern Minnesota is not really garage sale time.

Well in this garage is a pile of books and as I look through them I found craft books on quilting, basket making and a couple of recipe/cookbooks to sell on the internet.
One of them was " The Franklin Sugar Sweetmeat book printed in 1923. Small recipe book and only 64 pages.

I will be listing it tonight on eBay but until it sell will share some of the recipes with you at my other blog Stop over there if interested

It is rare and I have only found 2 other copies for sale on the Internet so far.
I will be posting this at
What have you found recently at sales. Thanks for stopping by..

Sepia Saturday Orphan Photo # 72 of Darling Young Child From Minnesota

Today's posting of an Orphan Photo is a sweet looking darling young child from St. Paul Minnesota. I bought this at an estate sale some years ago.
Photographer is S M Taylor of West 7th Street.

I think this is a young girl but with the short hair is hard to be sure. Dressed in a very nice dress with large lacy collar. Around the neck is a small cross.

What a doll. Sadly there is no name on the back to identify this young child. Take a look at the back to see how beautifully it is designed.

I am posting for the first time at Sepia Saturday.. You can visit others at for more vintage photos.

I hope that you enjoy my vintage photos and will let me know you have visited. Please take a moment before you leave to see some of my other vintage photos.

Thanks Grace
