Hubby and I love to spend several days a week hunting for books and any other items we think we can resell on eBay or Amazon to suppliment our retirement income.
I have always believed that my hubby did not really listen to me when I was sharing items I was looking for to resell.
Well I was wrong, I had mentioned that vintage Disney fabric was sellable on eBay and look what he spotted first at a recent estate sale. I put it up for auction last night and it already has bids.
Also this week at a thrift store I spotted two glasses that look like Dorothy Thorp roly poly that were made popular on the Mad Men show. I do not know if they are real Thorp's or some made to look like them during the mid century period. I have listed them on eBay with a statement of not knowing if they are orginal or not. You can watch to see if they sell by hitting the link above.
I love going to sales, great entertainment and there is always the possiblity of finding a true treasure to resell on ebay. You can see what I am selling by going here.
So here is two tips for you to watch for when you are out hunting. Do you have any that you want to share. I love tips on what to look for while out hunting.

Thrift Sharing Monday ~ BARBIE DOLLS
Thrift Share Monday .. time to share some of the things that I have found over the week.
I had shared this over at my other blog this morning but feel it belongs here even more.
We normally look for books first then we will search other areas of the thrift stores or estate sales.
Last monday I found alot of church spiral cook books. Not only are they fun to read and use but I also sell them usually on eBay on auction. Not big money makers but if I buy them right the profit margin is good. I put alot of work in my listing of these by listing all the recipes. This takes a lot of time but helps to sell them.
On Saturday we went to a church sale and hubby found a few books but I found nothing until we were about to walk out.
Sitting on one of the tables was a doll box with some dolls and hand made clothes. They wanted $30.00 for all of it. I said that was more than I wanted to spend as most of the dolls were not anything special.
As I was about to leave one of the ladies said " You can have the dolls for $1.00 each. So I grabbed 3 of them. Two are from the barbie family and the third is a male doll. I have no idea what he is and probably is nothing but for a $1.00 I brought him home.
Now I have to try to figure out exactly what I have which will take research at the library or going to barbie doll owner expert sites. At one time I had Barbie reference books but sold them years ago, now I wish I had them.
First doll is marked on her right back side Skipper 1963 Mattel Inc. Bottom right foot says Japan. So I know she is an early Skipper, not sure exactly when but research will hopefully help me. She had hair when I grabbed her but it is a wig and she has no hair. Question I have is did she come this way or did she get scalped. No matter what she is a pretty little girl, showing some wear but she has all her fingers and needs some cleaning
My next doll is marked Midge Barbie there are dates under each name but I can not make out and marked Mattel Inc on back side rear side and on the left is the number 13. Bottom of her right foot is Japan. She has molded red hair. Her condition is not as good, her head is cracked at front and back and she is missing her pinkie finger on both sides. Her condition is used and played with and needs a cleaning also.
Now the male doll is a mystery and probably from around the same time period. At his back waist area is maker mark hard to read and copy right symbol and the date 1961. Mark looks like EEGEE
So if I have any Barbie experts out there I would love to hear from you. I will be heading to the library one of these days to do some research before listing on eBay
Thanks for stopping by.. If I have any Barbie doll experts out there I would love to hear from you . You can see more pictures if you are interested by going to thriftycheapskate. I did get a comment over at my other blog telling me that I had an early skipper, Midge and that the male was Tammy's boyfriend , Ideal's
dolls of that time. Grace

Thrift Store And Estate Sale Finds
We went out a few times this last week looking mainly for books to sell on the Internet. My goal is to get out more often and work to get the books up for sale faster than usual. You can read about this here.
I found some wonderful vintage romance books that are desireable. Hubby found some Time Life Old West books to sell. Most Time Life Books are not very sellable but he did find 4 or 5 that should sell fairly fast. Already sold one on eBay. Here are a couple of them.
At one sale the books were slim .. nothing bought. Otherwise over priced glassware but I did find this adorable little childs hankie that I could not pass by. Adorable little bears in rocket ships and airplanes.

THRIFT HAUL ~ SEARCHING THE THRIFT STORES FOR BOOKS
This last weekend we went out hunting several thrift stores in the neighboring town. We had spent the weekend with grand daughter so took her out with us. As of yet I do not think she will get the thrifting bug but I am not done with her yet.
Not much found I am afraid to say and usually prices are way to high. First place we head when we walk into a thrift store is the book area. We are ex bookstore owners and have bought and sold books for years. After I go through the books I next head to the other areas of the store.
I am really looking forward to Spring and the start of garage sales. Prices hopefully will be better than the thrift stores.
What I found was four vintage romances to resell.

Three by Jayne Castle who is also known as Jayne Bentley, Amanda Glass, Stephanie James, Jayne Ann Krentz and Jayne Taylor,
and a rare romance by Diana Blayne

who is also known as Katy Currie, Susan Kyle and Diana Palmer.
All four will be put up for sale within days on eBay and Amazon.
Did you go thrift store hunting this last weekend? I hope that you found some real goodies. I will be sharing this at

Rare 1923 Franklin Sugar Recipe Book
.jpg)
I love Estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores and antique stores. We are always on the hunt for some treasure to buy and resell on the Internet to help suppliment our income.
Yesterday we were out hunting and stopped at a small estate/garage sale. Boy was it chilly. November in Northern Minnesota is not really garage sale time.
Well in this garage is a pile of books and as I look through them I found craft books on quilting, basket making and a couple of recipe/cookbooks to sell on the internet.
One of them was " The Franklin Sugar Sweetmeat book printed in 1923. Small recipe book and only 64 pages.
I will be listing it tonight on eBay but until it sell will share some of the recipes with you at my other blog http://www.couponloversunite.blogspot.com/. Stop over there if interested
It is rare and I have only found 2 other copies for sale on the Internet so far.
I will be posting this at
http://linda-coastalcharm.blogspot.com/2010/11/nifty-thrifty-tuesdays-no37-and.htmlWhat have you found recently at sales. Thanks for stopping by..
