Garage Sale Hunting and Teasures Found

Saturday morning and the sun is shining and the sky is blue. Hardly a cloud in the sky. Plan is to go to a few garage sales to see if any treasures can be found.  So many of the sales are clothes and not vintage clothes.  Tables and tables of kids clothes sale after sale.  Last stop is an older couple and they are clearing out some of their household items.  The only thing of real interest was a nice silver plated tea pot with sugar and creamer. The bottom is marked Buckingham, with makers marks and that it is of heavy silver plate.

Should be a great addition to my booth at the antique store and my purchase price was only $10.00.

Hope that your garage sale hunting or selling is going great. Grace

Vintage Bathing Beauties From The 1920's Orphan Photos # 113 # 114

I love vintage pictures and paper. Treasures from the past. Here are two snapshots that I recently sold on etsy. No idea who they were but they look like they are enjoying themselves. These snapshots are from the year 1921 and 1922. Watch for more in the next days that I will be sharing with you.

Antique Vintage Picture of Inauguration of Abraham Lincoln March 4 1861

Recently I bought this antique photo of the Inauguation of Abraham Lincoln March 4th 1861. It is from that time period of the late 1800's and is a Steel Plate engraving photo and is probably a memorial piece sold some time after Lincoln's death.

Though it does not add to the value I find it a great addition that the back has a stamp of the St. Marks Church in Duluth Minnesota and in the center says " In God We Trust ". St. Marks is has mainly a black congregation and has been an important part of Duluth for many years.

Thanks for stopping by to see another found treasure. This will be added to my antique shop case or sold on eBay.  Grace

Collecting Vintage Cookbooks

One of the first things I look for when going to estate sales, auctions and garage sales is cookbooks. Cook books to resell is fun and can be profitable.  Just this week I sold a copy of Betty Crocker's Pie shape cookbook on eBay for $19.49 plus shipping costs. It was a 5 ring binder published in 1972 and was in pretty good shape for its age.

Some other fun cook books to search for are old ones that are instructions for vintage kitchen appliances. Recently I found one for a Dormeyer Electric Mixer. I had it for sale on the Internet and sure enough a buyer came along and bought it for $15.00 plus shipping. She had just recently found the same mixer at a garage sale and was so happy to find the one I was offering for sale.  My little instruction book is now sitting near her vintage mixer.

Thanks for stopping by.. hope that you stop by again to see what I have found or sold on the Internet or at the antique store. Grace
